Brothers

A breakthrough has happend today at my home. Today I took a huge sigh of relief. Today I witnessed Evan spending every moment of his time sharing his toys with Miles. Evan held him and played with him and kissed him and told me he really loves his brother. I sat on the floor watching this miracle happen and cried. It's been nine and a half months of trials and tribulations with these two. Evan has been very jealous and protective of all his things. He's asked me time and time again why Miles has to live with us... Let me back up some.

A few hours after recovering from my c-section with Miles, I was able to see my family...although I was quite out of it. Evan, my free spirited, high energy, non-stopping moving/jumping/playing/happy boy, came running in the room and leaped onto my hospital bed. He wasn't a bit uneasy about all the IV's and bandages on me. He told me I looked beautiful for just having a baby. I laughed and then cried some more. The nurse then brought in baby Miles and Evan got to see him for the first time. The nurse gently handed Miles to me for my first hold while Evan sat on my lap. The room was quiet until Evan said, "Mommy, you can come home but Miles has to stay here in the hospital." I explained to him that wasn't going to happen and the look on Evan's face just about broke my heart. "But mommy! You won't have time to only hold ME anymore. You won't be able to play with me anymore! Do you still love me?"

From that moment on I knew I was in for a bit of a battle with my two guys....Today, the sun has finally poked through! My two boys are best buds.Thank God!
